In support of their upcoming release "Outlaw Gentleman & Shady Ladies" Volbeat return to a rowdy sold out Knitting Factory in Reno Nevada on St Patrick's Day.

The crowd at the Knit was already in party mode for the holiday but when Volbeat hit the stage all hell broke loose. Opening their set with "Hallelujah Goat" off their 2008 release "Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood" one could tell this was going to be be a high energy show. Having seen Voleat before, it was immediately obvious that there was a new but familiar face in the Volbeat camp. Former Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano has joined the band and fits nicely in the Volbeat sound.

Singer Michael Poulsen's voice was pure perfection as they ripped though "Heaven nor Hell" and "Warrior". Michael asked the crowd at one point if they wanted to hear some Slayer and the crowd responded with a roar. They tore through Slayer and then followed it with a cover from the Misfits and Judas Priest.

The band gave us a sneak peak at their upcoming album "Outlaw Gentleman & Shady Ladies" playing four new tunes including "Lola Montez" and "Dead but Rising". The new material sounded incredible. Bassist Anders Kjolholm was an animal just tearing up the stage and inciting the crowd every chance he got. I was in complete awe of Jon Larsen's drum kit. Straight up bad ass just like his playing.

The crowds response to Volbeat this night was crazy. The crowd surfing keep security busy as bodies were flying landing in the pit hitting this photographer several times but that's rock n roll !!!!! It was nice to see the chemistry between new guitarist Rob Caggiano and the other members. I think Rob is a great addition to the band. Volbeat closed the show with three encores including their hit "Fallen".

The Volbeat show and sound is a spectacle live. Nothing more then good ole in your face rock n roll. Their out on tour now with Danko Jones and Spoken in support. Speaking of Spoken we here want to recommed this band. Check out our Spoken photos, quick review and press release here. Don't miss your chance to catch this show if it's in your neck of the woods.
