February 5, 2022 Grand Theater Grand Sierra Resort & Casino Reno Nevada
Pre order new album
Shinedown descended upon Reno Nevada on their "Shinedown Live in Concert" tour to a SOLD OUT Grand Theater at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. Hitting just 22 cities on the West Coast and Canada, Shinedown have hit the road early in anticipation for the April 22nd 2022 release of their new album "Planet Zero". Out now is the first single from that release the title track "Planet Zero". Along with them in support is 2022 IHeart Radio Best New Rock Artist Nominee Aryon Jones.
Opening the nights festivities was Aryon Jones. Hailing from Seattle Washinton, Aryon and his band bring a strong Rock, Hip Hop, and Soul vibe thrown in with that native Seattle trademark Grunge sound. I hope that makes sense. Lol. Amazingly it works. Having been discovered by Sir Mix Alot back in 2012 it has been nothing but up for this talented artist. Aryon and his cohorts came out this night with the full expectation of taking names and they did. The energy brought by Bassist Bob Lovelace, a true madman and sporting a Cliff Burton shirt, along with Guitarist Matthew Jacquette was well received with a roar from the SOLD OUT crowd. For an opening act they gave the fans at the Grand Sierra Resort a show they won't soon forget.
I'll make this review of Shinedown short and sweet. They were FLAWLESS as usual. End of review. Thank you please come again. LMAO !
Opening the show with "Cut the Cord" off of 2015's "Threat to Survival" Shinedown kicked off this high intensity night in style. After rolling through several classics such as "Unity", State of my Head", 45 and Diamond Eyes Shinedown finally gave us our first sampling off their upcoming new album. Performing their first single the title track "Planet Zero" from that release Shinedown has added another heavy hitter to their live arsenal.

Shinedown is fronted by singer Brent Smith who is a phenomenal singer and a natural front man. On Guitar is the every amazing and talented Zach Myers. Such an underrated player in my opinion. Slapping the Bass for the band is the headbanging madman Eric Bass. Eric performed this night with three herniated discs in his back. If singer Brent Smith hadn't mentioned it, one would have never known from his high intensity performance. Backing all this is Barry Kerch on drums. Such an intense player live.
The band continued their onslaught and flawlessly ripped through "I'll Follow You", "Devil", "Get Up", and "Monsters". The first of the two final songs of this rock show was their chilling rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd"s "Simple Man". A staple of the Shinedown live show. To close out the night singer Brent Smith had everyone in attendance at this SOLD OUT show hold their fist high in the air and hold that position. Guitarist Zach Myers at this point started the opening riff of "Sound of Madness" while Smith had the crowd start pumping their fist up and down in the air in unison. This closed out another unbelievable performance by this talented band.
